ON Semiconductor Staff, Product Engineer in Sunnyvale, California

Job Summary:

Our ON Semiconductor site located in Sunnyvale, California is seeking a self-driven and motivated professional to join the Analog Solutions Group. As a Product Engineer, you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the evaluation and characterization of new power management semiconductor products. You will be working in a team environment with design, test, applications, quality, and marketing engineers. Our Product Engineers will be responsible for driving evaluation and qualification and will also drive release to production activities. You will have the opportunity to be a project manager of the assigned products.

Responsibilities:

Some typical deliverables of the job include:

  • Evaluation plan

  • Evaluation report, documenting the results of the lab evaluation activity

  • Bench test hardware/software, Labview, to be used for lab evaluation

  • ATE characterization and data analysis

  • Help drive bug analysis to root-cause.

  • ESD and Latchup qualification/evaluation results

  • Study, preparation and analysis of the product design

  • Projects will also require significant technical, logistical, project management and product engineering support, leadership, and coordination with extended team members such as the project manager, QA, reliability, failure analysis, field sales, field application engineers, offshore manufacturing, and customers.

  • Work with offshore counterparts to maximize profitability through cost reduction, yield enhancement, resolving production line issues and customer issues.

  • Introduce new products, provide technical consultation support to sales and marketing and interface with customers and FAE’s.

  • Responsible to help resolve customer quality issues, resolve customer line down issues, coordinate reliability testing on new products including new packages, processes and manufacturing sites, define optimized ATE test limits to enhance product yields and quality, design qualification and bench test hardware.

Requirements:

Requirements include, but are not limited to the following:

  • BSEE, required; MSEE preferred

  • 5 years of Product Engineering and/or evaluation experience preferred

  • Power Management products experience preferred

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

  • Strong circuit analysis and analytical skill required, in power management products preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to work well both in teams and independently; taking initiative to solve technical problems and overcome obstacles, to meet schedules/deadlines.

  • Candidate should have a demonstrated ability to develop and debug bench test hardware and be strong in common lab equipment usage.

  • Advanced Labview experience a strong plus

  • Project management experience, a strong plus
