Job Summary :
The Power Solutions Group at ON semiconductor is seeking to hire a Principal IC Test Engineer at the Phoenix, AZ site. The work environment revolves around the guiding principles of building success through respect, integrity, and initiative. As a semiconductor test engineer you will have the opportunity to research product technical requirements, validate its performance characteristics, and then developing test solutions for high volume manufacturing. You will work collaboratively with definition, design, and application engineers to root-cause product issues, identify opportunities for resolution, and ultimately provide quality products to our end customers.
Performance Objectives :
Within 30 days the candidate will be familiar with the product introduction process and the Test & Characterization guidelines. They will have an understanding of the Automated Test Equipment used in production and the software requirements for program generation.
At the end of 6 months the candidate will be functioning as a working member of the group. They will be writing programs to assist with data collection, analyzing the results, and communicating to peers. They will also be involved with the development of test plans and hardware for new products.
After the first year the candidate will be an integral member of the team. They will be fully responsible for product release efforts and will be expected to identify opportunities for product/process improvement.
Develop semiconductor test plans that enable high volume\low cost solutions for production test. Detail the project tasks, schedule, and budget expectations.
Work with design engineers to define testability requirements to ensure controllability and observability needs are met to support characterization and manufacturing test.
Utilize Automated Test Equipment to validate new product designs. Communicate performance findings to technical peers and the development team.
Develop test programs, analyze data results, and generate supporting documentation.
Confirm that the appropriate process guidelines, specifications, and strategies have been properly implemented into test programs and plans.
Design interface and measurement circuits that enhance tester capabilities and ensure compatibility with new product designs.
Work closely with the manufacturing sites to ensure production hardware solutions and programs are released within the expected delivery dates.
Manage the design, fabrication, and debug of PCB hardware that will be used during product validation. This includes schematic generation, component selection, and PCB layout review.
Attend relevant test conferences, industry shows, and/or seminars to keep abreast of industry testing standards, etc.
BSEE or BSET or higher degree with 10 years related test engineering experience in analog & digital test development
PCB design experience including basic knowledge of Signal and Power integrity principles
Experience on multiple tester platforms, particularly on Teradyne platforms
Statistical data analysis with tools such as Excel or JMP or equivalent
Programming in high level languages such as C, C and/or Visual Basic
Able to manage priorities of multiple tasks in a rapidly changing environment
Able to utilize engineering test hardware (for example, oscilloscopes) to debug part related issues
Working knowledge of ATPG, scan chain insertion and DFT development
Excellent communication skills
Comfortable with up to 10% travel
Program / project management experience is a plus
