ON Semiconductor Applications Engineer in Lindon, Utah

The RF Applications Engineer will be a lead engineer responsible for the development, verification, and validation of RF designs. These RF designs will be used as evaluation platforms or reference designs for ON Semiconductor’s customers and members of the sales organization.


  • Work in a cross-functional team to bring new wireless products successfully to market

  • Help drive top-line revenue growth for the company by identifying opportunities and securing design wins with customers

  • Support and enable customers to design in ON Semiconductor’s RF solutions with first time right approach to shorten the time to market

  • Contribute to next generation products by analyzing market and customers’ needs. Work with marketing to define custom product specifications and new product opportunities

  • Update product data sheets as required to include RF parameters, schematics, and application information. Develop required application notes

  • Investigate and solve technical issues from production and customer related modules

  • Improve and develop new evaluation boards and reference designs for specific markets and applications

  • Excellent academic qualifications (BSEE required, MSEE a plus)

  • Experience in design and execution of RF circuits for wireless products from 100 MHz to 2.4 GHz

  • Hands-on experience with antenna design, optimization and verification, especially printed circuit board antennas

  • RF or Microwave circuit design down to a component level. Familiar with designing and validating RF matching networks

  • Working experience with layout software such as Altium, Allegro or others for creating printed circuit boards

  • Experience running system-level simulations with Agilent ADS, Cadence Sigrity, 2-D and 3-D board simulations or others to correlate with actual measurements

  • Familiar with RF measurement and test equipment and proficient lab skills

  • Experience with software development in C, C , C# (assembler is a strong asset).

  • Familiar with the development of embedded software and tools.

  • Knowledge of radio standards which may include 802.11, 802.15.1 and 802.15.4

  • Programming skills in Python, MATLAB, C , LabVIEW, Visual Basic or other software languages

  • Customer Support experience investigating and resolving customers’ problems along with training customers on new products

  • Strong writing and verbal communication skills in English

  • Able to influence decisions through a sense of urgency, and competitive drive
