ON Semiconductor Process Engineer- Thin Films (CMP) in South Portland, Maine

Job Summary:

ON Semiconductor located in South Portland, Maine is seeking a Thin Films Sustaining Engineer who will join a team of process sustaining engineers and equipment engineers in a dynamic and challenging manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to take a collaborative approach in implementing traditional and nontraditional IC processes. This position will be responsible for sustaining manufacturing and have additional responsibilities to support Process Development.

Process engineering at the Western Ave fab includes the maintenance and control of the processes, providing SPC reaction plans, disposition of nonconforming product. The Thin Films process engineer will be expected to evaluate and implement creative solutions which improve performance, develop new processes, yield, cycle time, reliability and reduce cost. The individual will be expected to work with equipment technicians to resolve process/equipment issues. And, will provide support for new process introductions into manufacturing.

Performance Objectives:

Successful Candidates

Within 30 days the successful candidates will understand the process engineering procedures, the tools and methods available for data generation, extraction and analysis as well as a broad understanding of the scope of the current and future projects within the organization. They will also take the time to study and understand the variety of processes that are currently in production at SPMF and be given time to understand the integration of the various modules through documentation and discussion with key engineering personnel.

At the end of 90-days, a full understanding of the Thin Films unit process, including capabilities of both the tooling and the fab infrastructure will be expected. A working knowledge of fab process change procedures and appropriate engineering protocols will be achieved. Particular focus will be given to designed experiments and analysis of various data sources.

In the first six months, the successful candidate will become an integral member of Thin Films team and will be responsible for certain unit processes.
