Functions and Responsibilities

The System Architect (SA) is the key technical marketer for the Industrial Products Business Unit. The SA is responsible for architecting application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and standard products (ASSPs) for a wide variety of customers. The SA will also help drive new IP and technology decisions within the business unit and the division. Key responsibilities are:

  • ·Interface with Sales, Marketing, and Customersto architect compelling ASIC and ASSP chips

  • ·Determine the best IC process technology to meetcustomer requirements

  • ·Estimate the performance, power, and test timeof mixed-signal IC blocks for existing and new technologies

  • ·Estimate the die size and development schedulerequired to design new products

  • ·Select appropriate assembly and packagingsolutions for each new program

  • ·Perform preliminary designs to prove outparametric performance of circuits

  • ·Develop mixed-signal IP and tape out test chipsfor strategic programs and customers

  • ·Help develop product line strategies for thebusiness unit

  • ·Prepare and present technical overview andproposed architecture to customers

  • ·Evaluate and develop internal quoting tools toimprove efficiency

  • ·Prepare and present technology and IP updates toSales and Marketing management

  • ·Support the product development design team asthe primary technical bridge between quoting and designing new ASICs

  • ·Communicate consistently and effectively bothverbally and written to all stakeholders

  • ·Define, scope, and draft datasheets for newproducts

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • ·BSEE degree or comparable technical degree

  • ·7 years of IC and system-level design experience

  • ·In-depth knowledge of mixed-signal semiconductormanufacturing processes (fabrication, assembly, and test)

  • ·Analog and mixed-signal circuit design or systemexperience including:

o ADC and DAC topologies

o Low-noise opamp and comparator design

o Bandgaps, oscillators, and other reference circuits

o Linear and switched-mode power supplies

o PLLs and DLLs

o Charge pumps and high-voltage design techniques

o ESD and LU design requirements

o Microprocessor fundamentals
