The core responsibility of the Pixel Characterization Engineer is to characterize pixel performance with hands-on opto-electronic testing and develop pixel voltage and timing operation. Based on those results, give recommendations on directions for Technology Development, including pixel design, manufacturing process conditions, image quality studies, and other research directions. The end goal is to improve sensor image quality through in-depth understanding of pixel performance and operation.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to:
Develop pixel validation testing methodology and plans, both for bench testing and transfer to high-volume manufacturing. Focus on world-class execution
Write testing software; macros and scripts for data acquisition and analysis (experience with automation, stats, machine learning, and Python language is preferred)
Troubleshoot and debug pixel functionality, performance, yield, and reliability
Analyze scientific data and report results using statistical data analysis methods
Track pixel performance versus targets using statistical methods
Write detailed technical reports concluding characterization results, with recommendations for next actions
Conceive, build and maintain high-precision opto-electronic/mechanic bench characterization testing equipment, using robust mechanical design principles
Maintain a professional, organized, and clean lab environment
BS/MS (required/preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or closely related field, with 0-2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the semiconductor or imaging industry
Highly motivated with sense of self-discipline and initiative; ability to work with little direct supervision; Proactively look for risks and opportunities, adjusting plans and methods as needed, reaching out to cross-functional teams and stakeholders to increase chance of success
Attention to detail and ability to do the job right the first time
Accountability; adherence to project schedules and deadlines
Ability to understand and communicate extremely complex technical data and information in an appropriate way targeted to the specific audience
Electrical circuit principles and design knowledge, including analog circuits and CMOS image sensor architecture
Knowledge of semiconductor device physics, including pn-junction diodes and MOS transistors
Understanding of CMOS pixel circuit design, structure, and operation
Understanding of imaging/camera system level design and considerations
Understanding of basic semiconductor manufacturing processes
Hands-on experience working in a lab environment with sensitive measurement equipment
Experience with general electrical lab hardware: opto-mechanics, voltage/multi-meters, micro-probes, oscilloscopes, network and parameter analyzers, wafer probe stations
Ability to write software (macros/scripts) to automate data acquisition and analysis, using languages such as Python (preferred), VBA, MATLAB, or Excel. Practical knowledge to apply machine learning principles is desired
Statistical data analysis (i.e. descriptive stats, design of experiments, modelling and correlation, probability)
